Accessibility Statement
We are committed to ensuring our website is accessible and usable for everyone, including people with disabilities.
Accessibility Standards
Newton Advanced Eye Services is committed to digital accessibility for everyone, including people who are blind or have low vision, people who are deaf or hard of hearing, people with mobility or dexterity differences, and people with cognitive disabilities. As an eye care practice, we understand first-hand how vision affects the way people interact with the web, and we believe our website should be usable by every patient and prospective patient.
We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA — the internationally recognized standard published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines help make web content more perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for people with a wide range of abilities and assistive technologies.
Accessibility Features of This Website
We have designed and built this site with the following accessibility features in mind:
- ✓Keyboard navigation: all interactive elements—including the menu, buttons, and links—can be reached and operated using a keyboard, and a “Skip to main content” link lets keyboard users bypass the header.
- ✓Visible focus indicators: a clear, high-contrast outline shows which element currently has keyboard focus.
- ✓Screen reader support: we use semantic HTML headings and landmarks, descriptive link text, ARIA labels on controls, and alternative text on meaningful images so content can be announced by screen readers.
- ✓Reduced-motion support: animations and the autoplaying hero video are suppressed for visitors who enable the “reduce motion” setting on their device.
- ✓Readable, responsive layout: the site reflows for mobile, tablet, and desktop and supports browser zoom and text resizing without loss of content.
- ✓Color contrast: text and interactive elements are designed to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios for legibility.
Known Limitations & Third-Party Content
Some parts of our website rely on third-party services that we do not control, such as the embedded Google Map, the patient-review widget, and our online appointment scheduling provided through Pearle Vision. The accessibility of that third-party content is the responsibility of those providers. If you encounter a barrier with any embedded or linked service, please contact us and we can provide the same information or assistance by phone or email.
Requesting Information in Another Format
If you need any information on this website—such as our services, pricing, hours, or location—in an alternative format, or if you would like help booking an appointment, we are happy to assist. You can reach us by phone at (617) 965-2540 during office hours (Monday–Saturday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM) or by email at any time.
Ongoing Improvements
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We regularly review new and updated pages, test with keyboard and screen-reader tools, and work to address any accessibility barriers that are identified. If you let us know about a problem, we will make reasonable efforts to correct it and to provide the information or service you need in the meantime.
