How MiSight Works
ActivControl Technology uses a dual-focus design to correct vision and slow eye growth
Dual-Focus Lens Design
Clear Vision Correction
Dedicated correction zones provide sharp, clear distance vision just like a standard contact lens, so your child sees perfectly throughout the day.
Myopia Control Zones
Treatment zones create a specific focus pattern in front of the retina (myopic defocus), which signals the eye to slow its growth.
Daily Disposable Convenience
A fresh, sterile lens every day means no cleaning, no storage, and no buildup of deposits. Simply wear them during the day and dispose of them at night.

What to Expect
Initial Consultation
Dr. Patel will evaluate your child's eyes, measure their current prescription and eye length, and determine if MiSight is the right choice for their myopia management.
Fitting & Training
We'll fit the lenses and train your child on proper insertion, removal, and daily care. Most children learn quickly and feel confident within the first session.
Daily Wear Routine
Your child wears a fresh pair of MiSight lenses each day during waking hours. At the end of the day, they simply dispose of the lenses. No cleaning or cases needed.
Regular Follow-Ups
We monitor your child's prescription, eye length, and overall eye health at regular intervals to track progress and ensure the treatment is working effectively.

Safety, Risks & Hygiene
MiSight is a daily disposable lens, which is the safest way for a child to wear contacts — but like any contact lens, safe wear depends on good habits. Here's what parents should know, and the rules we reinforce at every visit.
Why Daily Disposables Are the Safer Choice
- A fresh, sterile pair every day — no lens cases or cleaning solutions, which removes the biggest sources of contamination in reusable lenses.
- Daytime wear only — MiSight is worn during waking hours and discarded at the end of the day. There is no overnight wear, which is a major risk factor with other lens types.
- Nothing to repair or ration — a torn or lost lens is simply replaced with a fresh one, so there's never a reason for a child to wear a damaged lens.
Risks & the Rules That Matter
- Eye infection (keratitis) — the main risk of any contact lens. It's rare with daily disposables and good habits, but serious when it happens: hands washed and dried before every insertion and removal, and each pair discarded at day's end — never reused.
- Keep water away from lenses — no swimming, showering, or hot tubs while wearing lenses, and never rinse a lens with tap water. Water carries organisms that can cause severe eye infections.
- When to stop and call us — if an eye becomes red, painful, light-sensitive, or blurry, the lens comes out and stays out. Don't re-insert; call (617) 965-2540 for a same-day evaluation.
- Parents stay in the loop — younger children do best with supervision of the daily routine. We train both the child and the parent at the fitting, and re-check habits at every follow-up.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about MiSight contact lenses
Can my child play sports while wearing MiSight lenses?
Yes. MiSight 1 day contact lenses are ideal for active children. Unlike glasses, they won't fall off, fog up, or break during physical activity. Many parents choose MiSight partly because of the freedom it gives their child during sports and outdoor play.
How quickly will my child adapt to wearing contact lenses?
Most children adapt to MiSight lenses very quickly, often within the first week. Dr. Patel and our team provide thorough training on insertion and removal during the fitting appointment. Children are often more motivated and capable of handling contact lenses than parents expect.
What happens if my child loses a MiSight lens?
Since MiSight lenses are daily disposables, a lost lens is simply replaced with a fresh one from the box. There's no expensive single lens to worry about replacing, which gives parents peace of mind.
